What Gist Edge Is
Gist Edge is an independent, all-round gist blog, published from Nigeria since 2025. Our main beat is technology and artificial intelligence — the products, platforms and companies people are actually arguing about — alongside scholarships and funding opportunities, and the news of the day.
“Gist” is the point. Most of what gets published online is either a press release with the corners rounded off, or a rumour repeated until it sounds like a fact — and when the subject is a scholarship deadline or a product you are about to pay for, that carelessness costs people real money. Gist Edge exists to give you the gist properly: what happened, what is confirmed, what is still only reported, and what it means for you. In plain English, with the sources named.
What We Cover
- Technology and AI — product launches, platform changes, regulation, and the companies building the AI tools everyone is arguing about. This is the bulk of what we publish.
- Scholarships and funding — funded study, fellowship and research opportunities, with eligibility, deadlines and how to apply.
- News — the stories worth knowing about, told without the padding.
- Migration and visas — a smaller section, currently being rebuilt. We are rewriting this coverage so that every article links to the official guidance it discusses and adds something you cannot get from reading the source alone. We would rather publish nothing here than publish a summary of a government page.
How We Work
Every article follows the same shape: what happened, what the primary source actually says, what is confirmed versus what is merely reported, and why it matters. Where a claim rests on a single outlet or an unnamed source, we say so in the article rather than dressing it up as settled fact.
No article goes live unread. Every piece is reviewed, fact-checked against primary sources and edited by a person before publication, and we take responsibility for everything published here.
