Veteran activist and entertainer, Charly Boy, has broken his silence following the Lagos State Government’s controversial decision to rename the iconic Charly Boy Bus Stop in Bariga to Baddo Bus Stop, in honour of music star Olamide.
The legendary bus stop, located along the Gbagada-Bariga axis, was famously named after Charly Boy due to his years of activism and contributions to the community. However, during a recent unveiling, Bariga LCDA chairman Kolade David announced the change as part of a move to honour influential figures like Olamide who have elevated the image of Bariga.
But Charly Boy isn’t taking it lightly. In a fiery post on X (formerly Twitter), he wrote:
“You can rename a place… but you can’t rename a legacy.
You can replace the signboard… but you can’t erase the spirit.”
He emphasized that the name wasn’t given by politicians but by the people of Bariga—those he stood for and fought alongside.
“Area Fada no dey finish. He’s a movement, a warning, an institution. You may change the name… but you will NEVER kill the legacy.”
With powerful words, Charly Boy reminded the world that true legacies are people-given, not politically granted—and his is here to stay.
