Nollywood star and rising media voice, Tobi Makinde, has shared how veteran actress and filmmaker Funke Akindele transformed his career and inspired his creative journey.
In a heartfelt chat with Sunday Scoop, Tobi credited Funke’s mentorship on projects like A Tribe Called Judah and Everybody Loves Jenifa for being the turning point in his life.
According to him, “Working with Funke felt like standing on sacred ground. She’s more than just talented her focus, drive, and attention to detail made me level up instantly.” He described the experience as a masterclass in professionalism and creative excellence.
Tobi also shared a deeply emotional moment when a fan told him, “Your work helped me through a really hard time.” That encounter, he said, reminded him that acting is more than just entertainment — it’s healing and impactful.
Now venturing into podcasting with The Tobi Makinde Show, he says the unscripted nature of the conversations has deepened his love for storytelling. “This isn’t just acting anymore it’s real, raw truth,” he added.
