Nigerian music star Waje has finally set the record straight on long-standing rumors linking her romantically with rapper M.I Abaga, revealing that their connection was purely artistic, not romantic.
Speaking during her appearance on The Honest Bunch Podcast, Waje explained that the dating rumors began after their collaboration on the hit love song “One Naira.” According to her, the emotional depth and romantic tone of the music video led many fans to assume there was something more between them.
“Because of the rollout and theme of ‘One Naira,’ people thought M.I and I were dating. But we weren’t — we were just two creatives telling a love story through music,” Waje clarified.
Interestingly, she disclosed that M.I’s girlfriend at the time was the one who did the voice-over on the track.
The singer added that at this stage in her life, she values genuine love, emotional maturity, and a partner with ambition, emphasizing that she won’t settle for less.
