Veteran Nollywood icon, Richard Mofe-Damijo, popularly known as RMD, has opened up about why he’s not a fan of being labeled a “legend” — and his reason might just shock you! 🎬

In a heartfelt chat on Bea U’s YouTube show Curiosity Made Me Ask, the ageless actor shared that the “legend” title, while sounding honorable, often feels like a retirement tag. RMD revealed that, to him, the word implies you’ve passed your prime and should fade quietly, and that’s far from his reality. 💯

He made it clear that the real legends, in his eyes, are Nollywood titans like Pete Edochie and Olu Jacobs — names that carry decades of groundwork and timeless impact. While humbled by the admiration, RMD stressed that he’s still very much in the game, actively working and delivering greatness, with plenty more to come!

He said, “I think all those legend thing is a scam. I have my legends like uncle Olu Jacobs, uncle Peter, those are our ancestors, our legends.“I was still watching him when he was saying Ribena children are healthy children.

“So I don’t subscribe to that, I think it is a scam when they call me legend because they are trying to relegate me to that neighborhood of retired people or should be nearing retirement. So, no, I don’t subscribe to it.”
