Popular social critic Martis Otse, widely known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), has sparked outrage online after calling out the staff of Gbagada General Hospital in Lagos for allegedly refusing to treat severely injured accident victims without upfront payment. According to VDM, a tragic accident occurred on the Third Mainland Bridge, leaving several people seriously injured, with some reportedly falling into the lagoon.
VDM revealed that good Samaritans, including his friend, rushed some victims to the hospital, only to be met with resistance from medical staff demanding N50,000 before administering treatment. He claimed that even after raising N40,000, hospital staff refused to accept the money or begin treatment, leading to the death of a male victim who urgently needed a blood transfusion.
The incident has sparked widespread anger, with many Nigerians questioning the humanity and ethics of public healthcare institutions. As of now, Gbagada General Hospital has not issued any official response to the allegations.
