Nigerian social media commentator Martins Vincent Otse, known as Verydarkman (VDM), has criticized Nollywood actress Eniola Badmus and other celebrities for endorsing politicians, arguing that their support is often motivated by personal gain rather than genuine conviction. He urged Nigerians to think independently and not let public figures influence their political decisions.

The controversy surrounding Eniola Badmus resurfaced after she reaffirmed her support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, despite previously facing backlash for endorsing him. Many accused her of prioritizing personal interests, especially after her appointment as a special adviser to the Speaker of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Tajudeen Abass.

As Nigerians engage in a 30-day online protest demanding change, Badmus has remained firm in her stance, using Instagram to reiterate her support for Tinubu’s administration. Reacting to this, VDM argued that celebrities should not be considered role models in political matters, as their endorsements are often driven by financial incentives or public recognition.

His statements have reignited discussions about the influence of celebrities in politics and the importance of citizens making well-informed electoral choices.

In his words:

“Eniola badmus other celebrities and the fulzsh Nigerians enabling them, until you know who you are you will continue being sheeps to the wrong shepherd.”
