It was a night of pure magic as the Super Falcons of Nigeria pulled off a dramatic 3-2 comeback victory against host nation Morocco to clinch their 10th Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) title!
The match started with heartbreak for Nigeria, as Chebbak fired Morocco ahead with a sensational strike in the 12th minute. Things got worse in the 24th minute when Sanaâ Mssoudy danced past Michelle Alozie and slotted home a second past Chiamaka Nnadozie, giving Morocco a 2-0 lead.
But the Super Falcons weren’t done yet! The second half saw a fired-up Nigerian side take control. Esther Okoronkwo converted a well-earned penalty in the 64th minute to spark hope, before Folashade Ijamilusi leveled the game in the 71st with a poacher’s finish.
Then came the moment of glory: Jennifer Echegini, fresh off the bench, delivered the knockout blow in the 88th minute with a classy finish that sealed the win and sparked wild celebrations!
Nigeria now celebrates yet another continental crown, proving once again why they’re queens of African football!
