The tragic death of Kim Jong Suk, a beloved 29-year-old South Korean model and reality TV star, has sent shockwaves across the nation. Suk reportedly passed away on June 4 following an alleged fall from a high-rise apartment in Hanam, Gyeonggi Province, after a rumored altercation with his girlfriend — but his family says the truth is very different.
While early reports suggested that Suk took his own life following a heated argument involving a broken soju bottle, his grieving sister has come forward to shut down the false narratives being spread online. In a heartfelt social media post, she slammed accusations that Suk assaulted his girlfriend, calling them not only false but deeply painful for the family.
Instead, she revealed a devastating backstory — that Kim Jong Suk had recently been the victim of a massive investment scam by someone he trusted. The fraud left him financially ruined, in deep debt, and emotionally shattered.
“He wasn’t running from the police,” she wrote. “He was simply a young man struggling under unbearable pressure and betrayal.”
She confirmed that an argument did happen, but there was no violence or assault, and clarified that a friend—not Suk—broke the bottle in an attempt to deescalate the situation before police arrived.
Jong Suk, known for his appearances on popular reality show “Skip Dating”, had built a growing fanbase through modeling and TV appearances. Just days before his death, he remained active on social media, showing no visible signs of distress.
His sister promised to release voice recordings and messages to clear his name and announced that the family would take legal action against those spreading damaging falsehoods.
