Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Tinubu, has stirred controversy online after a video of him discussing his father went viral. His remarks have triggered mixed reactions from Nigerians, including a sharp critique from social media activist Martins Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan (VDM).
In the video, Seyi Tinubu expressed frustration over the relentless criticism aimed at him, his family, and his father, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. His statements have fueled intense debates, with some sympathizing with him while others, like VDM, questioned his stance on youth empowerment.
“It was never about politics, but they keep coming for me, my family, and your father—Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the greatest president in Nigeria’s history,” he stated.
Reacting to the video, VeryDarkMan (VDM) acknowledged that Seyi Tinubu is more politically active than the children of past presidents, who typically stay out of the spotlight. However, he criticized Seyi’s statements, suggesting that he appeared disconnected from the realities faced by ordinary Nigerians.
VDM also dismissed Seyi’s claims about youth empowerment, challenging him to provide concrete examples of young Nigerians who have directly benefited from the current administration. He argued that true empowerment involves addressing fundamental issues such as stable electricity, well-maintained roads, and access to economic opportunities.
The video has continued to spark widespread discussions online, with many Nigerians debating Seyi Tinubu’s remarks and the broader state of leadership in the country.
