Nigerian singer Seyi Sodimu recently shared an old video discussing the journey of promoting his hit song “Love Me Jeje.” He revealed that the song was rejected in 2004 when he tried to market it in Los Angeles.
The rejection was based on his appearance, which was considered American, while his sound was deemed too African.
However, the song later gained traction in Nigeria, especially on Ray Power FM, and became a wedding favorite.
Tems later sampled “Love Me Jeje” in her Grammy-winning song, sparking mixed reactions about acknowledgment from her.
