In a major political comeback, Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan has announced that she will officially resume her legislative duties in the Red Chamber on Tuesday, July 8, following a court ruling that overturned her suspension.
Addressing jubilant supporters from her Kogi Central Senatorial District, the fiery lawmaker expressed deep gratitude, saying, “I thank you for your support… We shall resume in the Senate on Tuesday by the grace of God.”
The announcement comes just days after Justice Anita Nyako of the Federal High Court in Abuja nullified the senator’s six-month suspension, declaring it excessive, unconstitutional, and a violation of the democratic rights of her constituents.
Although the court imposed a ₦5 million fine on Akpoti-Uduaghan for contempt related to a Facebook post, the judgment has been widely celebrated as a victory for democracy and legislative independence.
With her reinstatement, all eyes will be on Natasha as she returns to the Senate floor, ready to continue championing the voices of her people.
