Former lawyer to singer Speed Darlington, Stan Alieke, has weighed in on the controversy surrounding an NYSC member who posted a video expressing frustration with President Tinubu and Nigeria’s economic situation.
In a post on his Instastories, Alieke stressed that “rules are rules” and explained that the corps member may have violated employment policies.
He pointed out that NYSC members are government employees who receive stipends and are therefore restricted from making negative statements about their employer—the government.
Alieke advised the corps member to acknowledge this fact and not be misled by social media support, as certain actions have consequences.
“If NYSC kicks you out, your options of getting some jobs in Nigeria are already limited as some organizations won’t employ you without a Nysc certificate. For further clarification, she should read her NYSC handbook.”
