Reno Omokri Slams Peter Obi for “Politicizing” Benue Massacre: Calls for Real Solutions, Not Political Clout

Nigerian political commentator Reno Omokri has taken aim at former Anambra governor Peter Obi over his recent remarks concerning the tragic killings in Yelwata, Benue State, where over 200 lives were lost in a suspected herdsmen attack.

Peter Obi had publicly criticized the Nigerian presidency, comparing the government’s slow response to the swift actions of South African and Indian presidents during national disasters. He called for a leader with “character, compassion, competence, and capacity.”

But Reno Omokri wasn’t having it. In a fiery post on X (formerly Twitter), he condemned Obi for what he described as “politicizing tragedy” to score political points. He argued that Obi’s comments ignore past incidents that occurred under previous administrations including attacks on the Nigerian Defence Academy, Kuje Prison, and the deadly Abuja-Kaduna train bombing.

Reno emphasized that Nigeria doesn’t need political noise, but actionable solutions. He urged the Benue State Government to open a donation account for victims and promised his support.

He ended by stating: “What Nigeria needs now is leadership that heals, not clout-chasing masquerading as compassion.”
