French prosecutors have officially requested that Moroccan international and PSG defender Achraf Hakimi be sent to trial over an alleged r@pe incident involving a 24-year-old woman in 2023, which the footballer strongly denies.
According to AFP, the Nanterre prosecutor’s office is urging the investigating magistrate to refer the matter to a criminal court, meaning Hakimi could be formally tried if the request is approved. The woman claims the footballer invited her to his home via a taxi he paid for, and then made unwanted advances before allegedly raping her. Despite not filing a formal complaint, prosecutors pressed charges in March 2023.
Hakimi’s lawyer, Fanny Colin, slammed the call for trial as “incomprehensible and senseless,” promising to pursue every legal appeal if it proceeds. Meanwhile, the woman’s legal representative welcomed the news with “immense relief.” The judge is expected to make a final decision in the coming weeks.
This legal bombshell lands just months after Hakimi’s pivotal role in PSG’s Champions League victory and Morocco’s historic World Cup run.
