A wave of protest has swept through Abuja, with dozens of Nigerian youths rallying for the release of social media activist VeryDarkMan (VDM), whose arrest has sparked widespread outrage. Demonstrators gathered in the Wuse district near Berger Bridge, holding placards reading “Free VeryDarkMan,” condemning his detention as an attack on free speech.

The protests come after VDM was detained following a petition from actress Tonto Dikeh, accusing him of cyberbullying. Activists like Omoyele Sowore and lawyer Deji Adeyanju have criticized the arrest, calling it an abuse of power. The protesters have vowed to take their demands to the National Human Rights Commission.
