Controversial Nigerian cleric Odumeje has sparked fresh debate online after boldly calling out fellow pastors for what he described as deliberate silence in the face of Nigeria’s worsening governance. Speaking during a recent church service, the self-acclaimed “Indaboski” did not hold back as he accused many religious leaders of benefiting from the same political system their members are suffering under.
According to Odumeje, several pastors enjoy heavy security escorts, political privileges, and special treatment from those in power — yet refuse to address the harsh realities ordinary Nigerians face every day. He argued that these leaders are failing their congregations by avoiding conversations that truly matter, especially during a period of national hardship and rising frustration.
In his fiery sermon, Odumeje insisted that every spiritual leader has a moral and spiritual obligation to speak truth to power, emphasizing that silence in the midst of bad governance is equivalent to complicity. He slammed leaders who boast loudly about their spiritual titles but produce no meaningful impact:
“Bad government they can never talk about it. Fake people. I don’t follow you because of status, I follow you based on your spiritual attitude. Everyone who stands on the altar in this government, you must talk.”
He went further to describe what he sees as hypocrisy within the religious community:
“You pastors are the ones causing it. Politicians give you police, Mopols, everything. But you give your members only olive oil and stickers, then send them to trek home while you drive off with armed escorts.”
Odumeje ended by challenging the credibility of pastors who brag about spiritual power without evidence:
“One miracle you have never done in your church, but you’re bragging that you are Bishop… taa! Go and sit down.”
His outburst has triggered massive reactions, with many Nigerians agreeing that spiritual leaders must do more than preach — they must actively stand with the people.
