In a chilling twist, two members of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) — Isah Abdullahi and Abdullahi Mohammed — have been arrested by Nigerian military troops for allegedly smuggling arms and military uniforms intended for terrorists in Borno State!
Major General Markus Kangye, Director of Defence Media Operations, made this revelation during a national press briefing on Thursday, July 17, highlighting the growing danger of internal collaborators aiding terrorism.
According to Kangye, the suspects were caught in Liya, Biu LGA, after receiving a suspicious waybill from a truck driver, thanks to intel-driven surveillance by our gallant troops.
“Two members of the National Union of Road Transport Workers identified as Isah Abdullahi and Abdullahi Mohammed were arrested in Liya, Biu LGA of Borno State while receiving waybill from a truck driver, which corresponded with intelligence received earlier on the said consignment.
The items include 13 pairs of military uniforms and some high-voltage batteries amongst others,” he said.
Additionally, troops also apprehended a 65-year-old terrorist logistics supplier, Shaibu Bulama, at Damasak Motor Park in Yobe on July 13. The crackdown continues as security forces intensify efforts to choke terrorist supply lines!
