Some Nigerians woke up to serious drama online after controversial Islamic cleric, Sheikh Gumi, dropped a fiery prayer on Facebook, calling on God to expose and punish anyone fueling insecurity and bloodshed in the country.
“My prayer today:
Ya Allah!
Whoever initiated or is behind this insecurity and bloodbath in Nigeria, whether foreign or citizen, or has any benefit, material or otherwise, or is even happy that people are being killed, or willingly did nothing to stop it, may by Your divine power be exposed and Your anger poured upon them and punished immediately without harm to the innocent. Amin.
Say Amin!”
In his post, Gumi prayed that anyone benefiting from Nigeria’s suffering or celebrating the constant k!llings should face divine anger.
But the twist? Many Nigerians were stunned, because Gumi himself is often accused of being a “bandits’ apologist.” His comment section instantly turned into a battlefield, with people boldly praying that he should also receive the same punishment he requested.
Instead of ignoring them, the cleric jumped in and replied to several comments, turning the whole thread into a heated exchange that quickly spread across social media.
