Reality TV star and Nollywood actor Pere Egbi has stirred hearts and minds with a powerful open letter addressed to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu following the death of former President Muhammadu Buhari. In a deeply emotional post shared on social media, Pere urged the President to reflect on the pain many Nigerians still carry due to years of hardship, broken systems, and lost hope.
“Nigeria is hurting. Millions are broken,” Pere wrote, expressing that many citizens have lost faith in political leadership, not out of choice, but because years of suffering have left emotional scars that now fuel bitterness and hate. While admitting he doesn’t agree with all of Tinubu’s policies, Pere stressed that he believes the President still holds the power to reshape Nigeria for good.
The actor also condemned those celebrating Buhari’s death, urging Nigerians to criticize leaders while they are alive but show dignity in death. “You don’t correct injustice by becoming just as cold and heartless. Celebrating death doesn’t heal—it only mirrors the cruelty we say we oppose,” he said.
