In a candid interview on The Breakfast Club, the 43-year-old entertainer admitted that his decision wasn’t a carefully thought-out plan, but rather a response to unresolved trauma from his past. After his divorce, instead of taking time to heal, Nick confessed that he became “careless” with life—enabled by money, access, and freedom.
“It wasn’t like I sat down and said, ‘I’m going to have 12 kids.’ It was more about living in the moment, having fun, and figuring things out along the way,” he said. Now nearing 45, Cannon reflects that if he had slowed down and done the inner work, his choices might have been different.
Still, he insists every child came from love and meaningful relationships, though he acknowledges that rushing through life spread trauma instead of fixing it. When asked about monogamy, he bluntly stated: “Monogamy has never really been my thing.”
