In a powerful show of empathy and solidarity, the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has stepped in to support Super Eagles goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali, who is currently dealing with the unimaginable grief of losing both parents within a short span.
The NFF has donated a generous ₦20 million to assist with the burial arrangements of Nwabali’s late parents. Recognizing the emotional toll this loss has taken on the beloved goalkeeper, the federation has also granted him compassionate leave, excusing him from the national team’s scheduled trip to Russia so he can properly mourn and make necessary preparations.
NFF General Secretary, Mohammed Sanusi, offered heartfelt condolences, urging Nwabali to remain strong in this dark period. The federation had previously sent sympathies following his father’s passing, and once again extended deep support upon hearing of his mother’s death months later.
Renowned football insider @PoojaMedia broke the news on X (formerly Twitter), and fans across the country have praised the NFF’s gesture as one of true compassion and respect for a player who has given his all to the national team.
