The Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) has stepped in to address concerns over the Super Eagles’ lodging in Morocco, following viral clips posted by Alex Iwobi showing rundown surroundings near the team’s hotel.

Fans had expressed outrage, questioning whether Nigeria’s national team was being properly cared for ahead of their 2026 FIFA World Cup playoff semifinal against Gabon.

According to Super Eagles’ media officer, as reported by journalist Adepoju Tobi Samuel, the team is staying at Rive Hotel, chosen for its proximity to the training facility and stadium. The controversial video merely showed an old building visible from the hotel window, not the team’s actual accommodation.

The Super Eagles earned their playoff spot after finishing second in Group C behind South Africa. The winner against Gabon will face either DR Congo or Cameroon in the final, with the ultimate victor advancing to the intercontinental playoffs in March 2026 for a chance to qualify for the FIFA World Cup in the USA, Canada, and Mexico.
