In a shocking revelation, Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis has disclosed why he turned down a jaw-dropping €200 million bid from Paris Saint-Germain for star duo Victor Osimhen and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.

Speaking with Corriere della Sera, De Laurentiis admitted that he now regrets the decision, especially with the contract saga surrounding Kvaratskhelia becoming messy.

According to him, Kvara’s agent, Mamuka Jugeli, threatened to invoke Article 17, stalling contract negotiations despite Napoli offering the Georgian winger a massive pay rise after his incredible debut season.

Things escalated before the European Championship in Germany, where De Laurentiis personally flew to Düsseldorf to resolve the matter but was met with more stalling and alleged lies about unpaid promises.

The Napoli boss revealed that PSG’s €200M package deal was real, but he turned it down after promising Antonio Conte that he would keep the star forward. He also admitted that with the money, the club had plans to swoop for Sporting Lisbon striker Viktor Gyökeres.
