Former US First Lady, Michelle Obama, has given fans an inside scoop into her family life, revealing which of her daughters her husband, Barack Obama, found more “difficult” to raise.
Speaking on her and Craig Robinson’s “Michelle Obama: The Light Podcast (IMO)”, Michelle explained that Barack naturally bonded with their first daughter, Malia, while his relationship with their younger daughter, Sasha, was a little more complicated.
According to Michelle, Malia, now 27, had a habit of engaging her father in deep conversations, even as a teenager. She recalled how Malia would intentionally spend 15 minutes with Barack before heading out, asking him questions about politics and even global issues like Syria. Michelle laughed as she remembered Barack’s excitement after such conversations, always coming out saying, “I just had an amazing talk with Malia.”
On the other hand, Sasha, 24, had a completely different personality. Michelle described her as “like a cat,” noting that she didn’t go out of her way to please anyone, even her father. Barack, she revealed, often called Sasha “difficult,” but Michelle clarified that Sasha was simply more independent and less of a people pleaser compared to her sister.
The mother of two concluded by stressing that parenting requires flexibility: “You have to be a chameleon… some parents only know how to parent one type of personality, but when you have multiple kids, you have to adjust.”
