Renowned gospel singer Mercy Chinwo has taken legal action against social media personality VeryDarkMan (VDM) over alleged defamatory remarks.

The lawsuit follows accusations made by VDM last month, claiming Chinwo withheld performance earnings and failed to fulfill contractual obligations to her former record label, EeZee Conceptz, led by Ezekiel Onyedikachukwu (EeZee Tee).

In a legal document dated March 3, 2025, her lawyer, Pelumi Olajengbesi, described VDM’s statements as libelous, malicious, and defamatory. Her legal team argued that VDM, despite having no direct involvement, made harmful claims that damaged her reputation.

Chinwo’s Demands in the Lawsuit:

  • N1 billion in general damages
  • N100 million in punitive and aggravated damages
  • N25 million to cover legal expenses
  • public apology and retraction of the alleged defamatory posts
  • Deletion of all defamatory content from VDM’s social media
  • Publication of retractions in four national newspapers for 14 consecutive day

With this lawsuit, Mercy Chinwo is firmly asserting that she will not tolerate false narratives that could damage her reputation. She is taking legal steps to challenge defamatory statements and protect her integrity from baseless accusations spread by VeryDarkMan.
