Lil Smart has retracted his previous accusations against his former employer, Naira Marley, after being detained by Nigerian police for defamation and cyberstalking.
In a video statement, Lil Smart clarified that Naira Marley was not involved in his alleged kidnapping or assault, nor was he responsible for the theft of $300, as he had initially claimed.
He explained that his mistake was due to the presence of Naira Marley’s associates at the scene.
Expressing regret, Lil Smart apologized for spreading false information and urged his followers to report incidents to the proper authorities instead of making unfounded accusations.
He said: “He was my ex-boss, his boys were at the scene so that was why I thought it might have come from him.”
“I feel very bad and now I’ve seen my mistake and I can correct myself and fellow Nigerians that you don’t come out to post what you don’t have proof of or what you’re not sure of and you should just go to the nearest police station and report instead of coming online.”
