Engineer Shyngle Wigwe, father of the late Access Bank CEO, Herbert Wigwe, has broken his silence amid swirling rumors that he is allegedly contesting his son’s inheritance with his grandchildren.

Recall that Herbert Wigwe, alongside his wife and first son, tragically lost their lives in a helicopter crash in the United States in February 2024. Since then, speculations have spread online suggesting a family feud over the billionaire banker’s assets, with claims that his 90-year-old father was allegedly fighting to control the vast wealth left behind.

But in a recent interview with NTA, Engineer Wigwe firmly denied the rumors, describing them as false and disrespectful. He stated that at his advanced age, he has no interest in material possessions and is only focused on peace and family unity. His calm and dignified response has since earned praise from Nigerians who admire his wisdom and humility.

“How can I want to claim Herbert’s properties? Who is the best person to defend Herbert’s properties? The father or a friend? The Father at 90 years? My grandchildren are there! Haba! I beg your pardon! How many more days have I got to live? So what will I do with Herbert’s properties? I trained Herbert. I brought him up, not a single penny from anybody went in to bringing Herbert up? The mother is here.

What will I do with Herbert’s wealth?” he asked

In a heartfelt revelation, Engineer Shyngle Wigwe, father of the late Access Bank CEO Herbert Wigwe, disclosed that he suffered a stroke shortly after his son’s tragic passing. The grieving father emotionally shared that he had a premonition of Herbert’s death even before the heartbreaking incident occurred.

He further revealed that he never supported his late son’s decision to build the lavish mansion in Ikoyi, Lagos, which has since become a symbol of the Wigwe legacy. His confession has stirred emotional reactions across social media, with many sympathizing with his pain and strength through tragedy.

“I got to to the new house. I was not happy. It is very ostentatious. I didn’t like it one bit. I tried to caution him but it was too late. He started building that house and I knew nothing about it.” he said
