The Lagos State Domestic and S#xual V!olence Agency has confirmed that Nollywood actor Olanrewaju James, popularly known as Baba Ijesha, has officially been added to the Lagos State S#x Offenders’ Register after completing his prison sentence for the s#xual ass#ult of a minor.
The actor, convicted in 2021 for assaulting a 14-year-old girl, remains legally recognized as a s#x offender despite recent rumors suggesting otherwise.
According to the agency, circulating claims that Baba Ijesha’s conviction was overturned are “false, misleading, and irresponsible.” In a statement posted on X on Sunday, November 16, the agency reaffirmed the government’s stance, stressing that his name has been documented in the s#x offenders’ database as declared by the Attorney-General.
The announcement has sparked fresh reactions online, reminding the public of the state’s continued commitment to justice and child protection.
“Mr. Olanrewaju James was not cleared of the offences of sexual assault and indecent treatment of a child,” Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr Lawal Pedro, SAN stated, warning that Fabiyi’s assertions were wholly untrue and capable of alarming the public.
He urged Lagos residents and the wider public to disregard the circulating claims and cautioned Fabiyi, including any platform amplifying the falsehood, to desist immediately.
In line with Section 37 of the Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency Law 2021, his name has been duly entered into the Lagos State Sex Offenders Register. This measure supports ongoing efforts to protect minors, strengthen accountability and ensure that accurate information is available to the public.”
