As Lagos State gears up for the much-anticipated Local Government elections slated for Saturday, July 12, 2025, the Lagos State Police Command has declared a total restriction of vehicular movement across the state between 3:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. on election day.

This was confirmed in a press statement issued by the Police PRO, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, who emphasized that the move is aimed at ensuring a peaceful and orderly voting process across all 20 LGAs and 37 LCDAs.

All roads and waterways will be affected by the restriction. However, essential service vehicles such as ambulances, fire trucks, and election-related security patrols are exempt. Also exempted are LASIEC-accredited officials, election observers, and journalists, provided they carry valid identification tags.

The police have banned armed escorts, private security aides, sirens, and covered number plates at all voting or collation centres. No politician or public figure will be allowed entry with armed personnel.

Residents have been strongly warned: violators of the movement ban or anyone involved in election-related violence will be arrested and prosecuted. The public is encouraged to report suspicious activity via 08063299264 or 08065154338.
