The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has officially released the results of the 2025 UTME resit exams, along with some previously withheld results, in a major update announced on Sunday, May 24, 2025. This news was shared in a statement by the board’s spokesperson, Dr. Fabian Benjamin.

Out of the 336,845 candidates scheduled to retake the exam due to earlier technical issues, 21,082 were reported absent. The board explained that previously unverified candidates and those affected by poor-performing centres were rescheduled accordingly.

The results were released after a national meeting of JAMB’s Chief External Examiners (CEEs), where experts, including Prof. Olufemi Peters of NOUN and Prof. Boniface Nworgu, a psychometrics authority, vetted the outcomes. JAMB also resolved to release the results of some underage candidates—except in legal cases—as part of a broader healing process, although these scores won’t qualify them for admission due to previously signed waivers.

In a surprising turn, JAMB also released results of candidates involved in “WhatsApp Runs” and other misconduct, calling it a one-time waiver. However, the board emphasized this is not an endorsement of such behavior and strongly warned students to avoid illegal online exam help groups.

Meanwhile, JAMB confirmed that results of candidates involved in serious exam malpractices or awaiting mop-up exams remain withheld. It also clarified that candidates whose results were withdrawn are being directly notified and there is no need to recheck results unless contacted.

JAMB also debunked claims that it profits from result-checking shortcodes (55019/66019), stating it’s solely for data protection and to curb extortion by cybercafés.
