Evangelist Helen Akpabio has stirred serious reactions online after boldly warning Christians against saying “happy birthday” during birthday celebrations.
In a viral sermon, she declared that the phrase is rooted in modern-day idolatry and insisted it shouldn’t be used by believers. “I don’t do birthday every year like a zombie. I don’t sell my soul to Satan like that,” she said, adding that Christians should rather say “happy thanksgiving” as birthdays are not meant to glorify self but God.
She further warned that singing birthday songs on church altars is spiritually wrong, urging Christians to always vet the words they use. “Satan has given us language, and the Bible says not to speak their language or mention the names of their gods,” she said.
What do you think? Is “Happy Birthday” harmless or a hidden trap?
