Renowned Nigerian fashion designer Veekee James is calling out what she describes as a blatant case of design theft—this time aimed at Senegalese designer King Corset. Taking to her Instagram page, Veekee didn’t hold back as she expressed outrage over what she believes is a copy-paste replication of one of her signature dress designs.
According to Veekee, King Corset recently dropped a video documentary showcasing a dress that mirrors her original work almost down to the last stitch. With no credit given and no sign of creative modification, the Nigerian designer was quick to spotlight the alleged imitation, pointing out that the piece was being paraded as an original concept by the Senegalese brand.
Fans and fashion enthusiasts have rallied behind Veekee, sparking a larger conversation about intellectual property and originality in African fashion. While some demand accountability, others see it as proof of Veekee’s influence on the global style scene.
“Some of you designers in this industry are many MAD.
Like seriously mad!
How on earth do you copy someone’s viral design 100% and have the guts to do a documentary Imac
The reason why a lot of you will never grow or last long in this industry is your lack of originality and effort! The height is copying someone without even acknowledging them!
Like what’s the difference between you and a thief?
How do you all think God blesses the works of your hands? By stealing? Smh there’s more where the creativity came from that’s why I don’t bother with yall these days but this had to be said! I wish you all well as you strive to
excel in this industry!
Free publicity for you btw “king corset’”
