Football legend David Beckham is set to be knighted today, November 4, at Windsor Castle, joining a list of highly distinguished honorees. The 50-year-old former England captain is being celebrated for his remarkable contributions to sports and humanitarian work.
Beckham, who made his Premier League debut with Manchester United in 1995, was a key player in the team’s historic 1999 Champions League victory and went on to win six Premier League titles and two FA Cups before retiring in 2013.
Off the pitch, Beckham has proven himself a global humanitarian, serving as a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador since 2005 and recently becoming an ambassador for the King’s Foundation. Beyond football, he’s a fashion icon, once named GQ’s “Most Stylish Man of the Year.”
Also honored today are Nobel Prize-winning author Kazuo Ishiguro, who received the Companion of Honour, and West End star Elaine Paige, who was made a Dame for her outstanding contribution to music and charity.
