Afrobeats star Fireboy DML has reignited the age-old football rivalry between Nigeria and Ghana — and his take is shaking the table! During a chat on the 90s Baby Show podcast, Fireboy boldly declared that Ghana’s Black Stars are actually better than Nigeria’s Super Eagles, despite Nigeria being packed with world-class individual talents. According to Fireboy, while the Super Eagles shine on paper, their teamwork often falls flat on the pitch.

On the other hand, the Black Stars, though less star-studded, have mastered unity, chemistry, and collective drive. He even gave props to Ghanaian midfielder Thomas Partey, praising his standout performance against Real Madrid during Arsenal’s Champions League clash — and noted Nigeria is yet to produce a midfielder of that caliber. His hot take has sent fans into a frenzy online, with debates now trending across both countries.

He said, “Right now, Ghana is a better team [than Nigeria’s Super Eagles]. Individually, we [Nigerians] are better. But as a team, Ghana is better.

“For some reason, we have not been able to combine the brilliance of each player to form a solid team. I think it will take time. We have a lot of talents but we have not been able to utilise them.

“Unlike Ghana, we don’t have a good midfield. Thomas Partey alone, we don’t have a midfield to battle that. You saw how Partey handled Real Madrid during their Champions League clash with Arsenal. We don’t have that.”
