Kunle Afolayan’s achievements as a filmmaker continue to shine, with his remarkable contributions celebrated at the recently concluded 29th edition of FESPACO, Africa’s largest film festival.
At the festival, Afolayan showcased his expertise, vision, and dedication to African cinema through various initiatives under his KAP (Kunle Afolayan Productions) Group.
A major highlight was KAP Day at FESPACO, where he conducted an insightful masterclass titled *Business of Cinema: Balancing Creative with Commercial Visibility*, offering filmmakers valuable knowledge on funding opportunities.
His KAP Academy gained recognition as a vital institution nurturing the next generation of filmmakers, focusing on both technical skills and career success strategies. Another standout moment was the screening of Ija Ominira (1978), a classic film by his late father, Ade Love, presented as a FESPACO classic at Cine de Burkina.
Afolayan also unveiled his latest film, RECALL, set for theatrical release on April 4, 2025. The screening received enthusiastic acclaim, with an impressive turnout reflecting the excitement surrounding the project.
He concluded the festival by urging filmmakers to tell authentic stories and produce films consistently, encouraging them to aim for at least one film per year.
