
The Federal Authorities has launched that the restoration of the national electricity grid has commenced hours after it collapsed on Tuesday, marking the second such incident since Friday last week.
In an update on Tuesday, the Nigeria Independent System Operator (NISO) disclosed that nationwide energy restoration started at about 11:00 a.m., following the grid collapse which came about round 10:forty eight a.m. the identical day.
NISO defined that the disturbance originated from the Gombe Transmission Substation and hasty spread throughout the network, affecting the Jebba, Kainji and Ayede Transmission Substations.
In response to the operator, the incident fervent a voltage disturbance that ended in the tripping of some transmission strains and generating devices, ensuing in a partial procedure collapse.
“Appropriate corrective actions had been straight taken to stabilise the procedure and restore commonplace operations. Restoration commenced at about 11:11 a.m. and has since been carried out,” NISO stated.
The operator clarified that the incident failed to amount to a total grid collapse, as only parts of the national grid had been affected.
It added that the national grid has now been fully restored, with electricity supply returning to commonplace throughout the affected areas.
