Fresh twists have emerged in the tragic death of Liverpool footballer Diogo Jota and his brother Andre Silva, following their fatal crash in northern Spain. Two eyewitnesses have come forward to refute claims by Spanish police that the £180K Lamborghini Huracan was speeding before the deadly impact.

Portuguese lorry driver Jose Azevedo, who filmed the aftermath, insisted Jota’s car passed him “super calmly” and not at high speed. “My conscience is clear—I tried to help, but the fire was too intense,” Azevedo said, hitting back at trolls who accused him of seeking clout.

Another truck driver, Jose Aleixo Duarte, echoed Azevedo’s account, describing Jota’s speed as “moderate” and pointing fingers at the poor road conditions of the A-52 near Cernadilla. Spanish road safety expert Javier Lopez Delgado admitted the road was flawed but argued skid marks suggest high speed.

Jota, who had recently married and undergone lung surgery, was heading to Santander to catch a ferry to the UK with his brother. The Spanish Civil Guard continues its investigation.
