Billionaire tech mogul Elon Musk shocked the world this week with a now-deleted tweet accusing former U.S. President Donald Trump of being named in the still-unreleased Jeffrey Epstein files.
The X (formerly Twitter) post to Musk’s 220 million followers read:
“Time to drop the really big bomb. @realDonaldTrump is in the Epstein files. That is the real reason they have not been made public. Have a nice day, DJT!”
The jaw-dropping claim, shared during Musk’s public criticism of the Biden administration’s spending bill, set social media ablaze before being mysteriously taken down, suggesting a potential pause or shift in the tense relationship between Musk and Trump.
Responding to the viral firestorm, David Schoen, Epstein’s former lawyer, dismissed Musk’s claims, stating:
“He had no information to hurt President Trump. I specifically asked him.”
Still, online speculation surged. In the early 2000s, Trump had called Epstein a “terrific guy” who liked “beautiful women… many on the younger side.” While Trump later distanced himself, even banning Epstein from Mar-a-Lago in 2007, the associations remain controversial.
Flight logs revealed Trump flew on Epstein’s jet at least seven times in the ’90s. A second version of Epstein’s “little black book,” now up for auction, highlights Trump’s name among other global elites.
Musk’s critics questioned his sudden shift:
“If Elon truly believed Trump was involved, why spend months praising him?”
As rumors swirl and the internet dissects every detail, one thing is clear this story isn’t going away anytime soon.
