The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has officially urged Nigerians who fell victim to the fraudulent cryptocurrency platform Crypto Bridge Exchange (CBEX) to report at its zonal offices in Ibadan and Lagos as part of an ongoing investigation.
In a statement released by its Head of Media and Publicity, Dele Oyewale, the commission confirmed that it is currently prosecuting three suspects – Adefowora Olanipekun, Otorudo Avwerosuo, and Ehirim Chukwuebuka – linked to the massive crypto scam.
According to EFCC, the collapsed trading platform duped investors with promises of outrageous returns, resulting in over ₦1 billion in losses when CBEX suddenly crashed in April 2025.
The agency stressed that victims who invested through individuals connected to CBEX in Ibadan and Idimu, Lagos, should immediately report to the EFCC Ibadan Zonal Directorate and Lagos Zonal Directorate 2 to assist in the probe.
This development is part of the commission’s wider crackdown on fraudulent schemes preying on unsuspecting Nigerians in the booming but risky crypto space.
