Nigeria’s Super Eagles captain, William Troost-Ekong, has confirmed that the team boycotted training on Tuesday due to unpaid allowances and bonuses — just days before their crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Gabon.
Reports say the players refused to hit the pitch until the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) clears their outstanding payments. Troost-Ekong took to X to clear the air, stating that the team isn’t making new demands — they simply want what’s rightfully theirs.
The camp, which opened in Rabat, Morocco, has already seen 23 stars arrive, including Osimhen, Iwobi, Ndidi, Lookman, and Chukwueze, with only Maduka Okoye yet to join. Fans have since erupted online, blasting the NFF for what many call another “national disgrace” and a recurring embarrassment in Nigerian football.
As of now, the NFF remains silent — and Nigerians are demanding answers.
