In a shocking new twist to the ongoing legal battle, Sean “Diddy” Combs’ defense team is now claiming that his former partner, Cassie Ventura, was involved in “mutual violence” during their relationship.
This claim emerged as part of his defense strategy in the ongoing sex trafficking and racketeering case that has garnered worldwide attention. On May 5, Diddy appeared in a Manhattan courthouse as jury selection began, facing serious charges including racketeering conspiracy, sex trafficking, and transporting individuals for prostitution. He has pleaded not guilty to all charges.
Diddy’s lawyer, Marc Agnifilo, revealed that the defense plans to present evidence suggesting Cassie was physically aggressive during their relationship.
The defense claims that this could challenge Cassie’s role as the sole victim in the case, potentially re-framing the situation as a case of domestic violence. Cassie, however, is expected to testify for the prosecution.
This legal battle comes after the release of a 2016 video showing Diddy allegedly assaulting Cassie in a hotel hallway. Amidst growing sexual assault allegations, including claims from over 120 alleged victims, Diddy’s case is only gaining momentum, and the stakes are high. If convicted, he faces a life sentence.
