American music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs is officially headed to federal prison after being sentenced to 50 months (just over four years) for interstate prostitution, with credit for time already served. The Federal Bureau of Prisons has confirmed that the hip-hop icon is expected to be released on May 8, 2028.

Diddy, who has been behind bars since his arrest in September 2024, was acquitted of the more serious charges of racketeering and sex trafficking. Despite maintaining his innocence throughout the high-profile trial, the court handed down his first-ever criminal conviction, alongside a $500,000 fine and five years of supervised release after his sentence.
Prosecutors had sought an 11-year prison term, alleging that Combs used his fame and power to coerce women into participating in drug-fueled sexual encounters known as “freak-offs.” One of the accusers, Cassie Ventura, his ex-girlfriend, gave emotional testimony during the eight-week trial.

While the jury dismissed the racketeering and trafficking charges, it found Combs guilty of violating the Mann Act, which bans crossing state lines for prostitution. His legal team has already confirmed plans to appeal the ruling.
