Nigerian comedian Deeone has sparked major buzz online after calling out Afrobeats superstar Davido for his recent visit to Nigeria’s president and first lady. In a strongly-worded video making rounds on social media, Deeone didn’t hold back as he criticized the singer’s conduct during the high-profile meeting, labeling it as “poor man’s behavior.”
According to Deeone, Davido’s constant smiling and teeth-showing during the visit was inappropriate and a missed opportunity to represent the plight of everyday Nigerians. He argued that artists like Burna Boy and Wizkid are more respected globally because they carry themselves with more seriousness, especially in political spaces.
Deeone—who recently lost access to his own social media account—expressed disappointment in Davido, stating that the same artist who once spoke out against the president now appeared completely silent when given the chance to speak truth to power.
“Davido embarrassed himself and his fans,” Deeone said. “He had a platform, but he used it for smiles and photo ops instead of substance.”
This comes shortly after Cubana Chiefpriest also faced backlash for sharing photos from his own political visit, sparking ongoing debates about celebrities and their roles in national discourse.
