Dancer Kaffy Speaks Out on Protecting Children from Familiar Predators — “Parents, Set Boundaries at Home!”

Renowned Nigerian dancer and fitness coach, Kaffy, has sparked an important conversation online after addressing the issue of child protection and setting firm boundaries around trusted adults. In a heartfelt Instagram video, the mother of two urged parents to stay vigilant, warning that most cases of child abuse come from familiar faces — not strangers.

“Parents need to be cautious of the favorite uncles, aunties, nannies, and drivers. There must be boundaries,” Kaffy stressed. She explained that many African homes often encourage over-familiarity between children and adults, ignoring the potential harm it could cause to a child’s sense of safety and personal space.

Kaffy shared that someone close to her once crossed personal boundaries when she was younger — right in front of people who trusted that person. “At that age, I didn’t understand what was happening, but I knew something about it was wrong,” she recalled.

She emphasized that abusers often appear caring and harmless, which makes it harder for parents to suspect them. She also warned adults to avoid unnecessary compliments or physical touch towards children, even if they are family.

“Teach your children that it’s okay to say no when they feel uncomfortable,” Kaffy advised. She promised to continue the discussion in her next session to help parents identify early warning signs and create emotionally safe spaces for their kids.
