Nigerian athlete Chukwuebuka Enekwechi has shattered records and made history by becoming the first African to throw beyond 22 meters in the men’s shot put.
Competing at the prestigious Eugene Diamond League in the United States, Enekwechi launched a massive 22.10-meter throw, breaking his previous personal best of 21.91m set at the same event last year.
The electrifying performance earned him a well-deserved third-place finish in a fiercely contested field. American star Joe Kovacs won with a world-leading throw of 22.48m, while Roger Steen narrowly edged past Enekwechi for second place with a 22.11m effort.
Despite falling just short in his final attempt, which landed at 21.68m, Enekwechi’s record-breaking throw secured him a podium spot and cemented his legacy in African athletics history.
The Nigerian powerhouse has not only raised the bar but also inspired a generation of African athletes with his remarkable achievement.
