Chelsea-bound striker Emanuel Emegha has been hit with a shock suspension by Ligue 1 side Strasbourg, just months before he finalizes his move to Stamford Bridge.
The Dutch forward, who already has a pre-agreed deal to join Chelsea next summer on a seven-year contract, has been dropped from the squad ahead of their clash with Toulouse.
Managed by former Premier League star Liam Rosenior, Strasbourg announced that Emegha was suspended due to internal issues and for failing to meet the club’s standards.
The decision comes despite his impressive form this season, where he has netted seven goals in 11 matches and earned his first caps for the Netherlands.
“This decision was taken following the player’s recent failure to respect the club’s values, expectations and rules.
“Racing reaffirms its commitment to the essential principles of exemplary conduct and respect for the collective framework.
“Emmanuel remains an important member of our team, who has always given his all for the club on the pitch. He will be reintegrated into the squad after this match.
“No further comments will be made.”
