Fireboy DML just revealed how close he was to giving up on his dreams before becoming a music superstar! 🌟 In a heartfelt chat on the 90s Baby Show in London, the ‘Peru’ singer shared that despite holding a degree, he was on the verge of becoming a petty trader selling rechargeable lamps under the Ajah Bridge in Lagos. 😳
Before hitting it big, Fireboy was even selling pepper soup at a local joint to make ends meet. He admitted that he was considering switching to selling lamps, which he thought was more dignified than his current hustle.
“At least, people would call me a lamp seller, but selling pepper soup felt crazy,” he said. His parents had no idea he was working these side jobs either.
Everything changed when rapper Olamide noticed him and signed him to YBNL Nation in 2018, giving Fireboy the break he desperately needed.
His debut track ‘Jealous’ dropped, and the rest is history! Fast forward to 2019, and his first album ‘Laughter, Tears and Goosebumps’ cemented his place as a star. From considering lamp sales to dominating the music charts—Fireboy’s story is a reminder to never give up on your dreams!
