Nigerian singer Ayra Starr, born Oyinkansola Sarah Aderibigbe, recently shared how her musical journey began in an interview with Amazing Jazzy.
She revealed that she started singing at the age of 10 as a lead singer in her church’s children’s choir.
Ayra Starr credited this early experience as pivotal in shaping her voice and artistry, emphasizing how her time as a chorister helped lay the foundation for her successful music career.
“I loved being in the choir. I was like the loudest child—it was the kids’ choir actually, and everybody was little,” Ayra Starr recalled. “It was the first time I discovered that I could sing. It really helped me shape my voice and music.”
