Popular Nigerian comedian AY Makun has taken to social media to voice his growing concern over the rising insecurity in Nigeria, describing the nation as “a crime scene” and condemning the government for its seeming inaction. His statement comes amid a wave of alarming incidents, including school kidnappings, church attacks, killings, and a surge in banditry across the country.
AY noted that attackers are now brazenly targeting places of worship, abducting worshippers, while schoolchildren are being kidnapped directly from classrooms. Even high-ranking military officers, including a Brigadier General, have fallen victim to violent attacks. The comedian questioned how the country reached such a precarious state and expressed frustration over the apparent lack of effective response from local authorities, suggesting that foreign intervention might become necessary if the situation continues.
He urged the government to prioritize citizen safety, enforce accountability, and implement concrete measures to restore security. His remarks have sparked widespread discussion online, with many Nigerians echoing his concerns and demanding urgent action.
